Emissions Reduction Targets

Oate Caree Services aims to:

  • Continuing to support a flexible working model, reducing the need for daily commuting.
  • Expanding the use of local hubs and shared facilities to minimise travel and improve operational efficiency.
  • Promoting active travel (walking and cycling) and increasing the use of public transport to reduce emissions from car travel and business-related journeys.
  • Ensuring that all new company vehicles are ultra-low emission, contributing to a cleaner transport fleet.
  • Supporting and encouraging sustainable procurement practices throughout our supply chain.
  • Taking proactive steps to help build healthier, safer, and more resilient communities through environmentally responsible operations.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 75 tCO2e by 2029, a reduction of 29% against the baseline.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed initiatives since baseline year:

  • Transition from petrol/diesel pool cars to hybrid and electric vehicles (EVs).
  • Installation of LED lighting and smart controls in offices.
  • Remote working model introduced to reduce commuting.
  • Implementation of recycling and waste reduction programme across all sites.
  • Migration of IT systems to UK-based, energy-efficient cloud hosting.

Future initiatives:

  • Phased replacement of all remaining fleet vehicles with EVs by 2030.
  • Installation of renewable energy (solar PV) at head office by 2026.
  • Ongoing staff training and incentives for sustainable commuting (e.g., cycle-to-work scheme, car sharing).
  • Increased supplier engagement to encourage carbon reduction across our supply chain.
  • Annual review of procurement policies to prioritize sustainable goods and services.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the GHG Reporting Protocol and UK Government conversion factors.
